An Implicate Order

An Implicate Order

16/03/2021 to 18/04/2021

Theoretical physicist David Bohm envisioned a model of reality called “The Implicate Order” which states that there is a deeper and more fundamental order of reality. It is like an underlying field of undivided wholeness which can be unfolded into an abstraction of forms in time and space, and again be enfolded back into the whole – a continuous dance between wave and particle, material and immaterial. Karyn Taylor likens geometry to a language that has the ability to express complicated and illogical notions in simplified and logical terms. Taylor believes that geometry, along with colour, has a strong and clear energy structure which she likes to think has an imbedded coding that holds information about the true nature of reality.

Shape of a Circle

Shape of a Circle

30/07/2019 to 18/08/2019

In 'Shape of a Circle' Karyn Taylor continues to explore ideas around geometry. She is interested in the notion that it can hold an influencing resonance along with it’s ability to describe the intrinsic order of the universe. Taylor takes the square and the circle as her building blocks for a new encoding of space and time.

Elements of Euclid

25/09/2018 to 14/10/2018

In this new body of work, ‘Elements of Euclid', Taylor is working with colour as an expression of light as she attempts to solidify it. She is exploring wave-particle duality, the concept in quantum mechanics that every particle or quantic entity may be partly described in terms not only of particles, but also of waves. The differing wavelengths that determine each colour, along with the solidity of the art object itself, recall these ideas in quantum physics.

Time Space Existence

14/02/2017 to 5/03/2017

Karyn Taylor’s Time. Space. Existence. is an installation-based project that challenges the viewer’s sense of both time and space through optical quirks and implicit associations.

Line to Plane

28/06/2016 to 17/07/2016

Line to Plane is an exhibition showcasing new works from artist Karyn Taylor. In this new body of work Karyn is further investigating geometric space, notions of defined reality and the desire for logical outcomes. Taylor’s works seem to be made with some form of magic – a glowing line appears illuminated with no visible power source – for this reason the works often instill a sense of disbelief and wonder.

Line of Site

17/11/2015 to 30/11/2015

Karyn Taylor is herself a sublime understatement. She is an artist of insatiable drive with an appetite for the infinite made finite in her material constructions. Taylor is not afraid of confronting grand narratives; her themes deal with the science of life. The complexity of concepts explored by Taylor is presented in deceptively refined structures and installations.

New Geometries

New Geometries

21/07/2015 to 9/08/2015

Karyn Taylor is interested in the space between the potential and the actual, the transitional state between energy and matter. Her starting point is the idea of quantum superposition, a state in which all potentials of a physical system exist simultaneously before ultimately collapsing into a single variant.
