Biography

I am most drawn to the parts of the garden that are slightly overgrown and ramshackle, where the audacious unruly spirit of nature is left to ramble…

Flowers seem to be such a wonderful metaphor for the human spirit – the loud and gregarious say take me as I am, while the shady and quiet are just as happy going about their business. They are what they are and they don’t give a damn what anyone else thinks, yet they exist and thrive as a supportive community. We can learn a lot from them.

Katherine has a Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Art at Auckland University. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in Michigan USA in 2014 with a BFA in Painting (Honors) and minor in Interior Design.

Her interest in the flower began during her Masters research into the history of design.  For Katherine, painting the flower is celebrating and championing all that’s feminine – the beautiful, the emotive and our connection with the earth
