Biography

Having fallen asleep thereafter, 2018, digital silk prints, cedar stretcher, steel brackets and cement

Reading the work of Morris Louis and Daniel Buren, Having fallen asleep thereafter reflects on a digressive, tactile and expansive field of painting. In my own work, the compositional limitations of the stretcher are re-thought through acts of re-modelling, interchange, failure and chance.

Scarlett Cibilich lives in Auckland and graduated from Elam School of Fine Arts (MFA) in 2018. Recent exhibitions include: ‘One Metre Composition’ (Auckland Art Fair Projects 2018), ‘Between Halfway’ (Elam Graduate Show 2017) and ‘Back to Fore’ (George Fraser Gallery 2017). Scarlett was a recipient of the Studio Art Suppies Prize, University of Auckland, 2018.
